Dr. Mike Inglis is the author of numerous astronomy books for the amateur astronomer and astronomy student.

Additionally, he has had many articles published in popular astronomy magazines, such as Sky & Telescope (the world’s best selling astronomy magazine), the Journal of the SPA [Society for Popular Astronomy], and Astronomy Now (the UK’s best selling magazine), as well as in research-level journals.

As a professional astronomer, Dr. Mike Inglis is also the Series Editor for several advanced book series;

  • "Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics & Astrophysics" , for degree-level Physics and Astrophysics students.
  • "Springer Briefs in Astronomy", for PhD astrophysics students and research astrophysicists.

Recent News

Dr Mike Inglis has just had a new book published - Astronomy of the Milky Way: Volume 1 - The Northern Sky.

Dr Mike Inglis participated at the South Fork Museum of Natural History during the eclipse of 2017. He was representing Montauk Observatory and SCCC.

Dr. Mike Inglis has just submitted an article to the magazine Popular Astronomy, in the UK, entitled "Delights of the Winter Milky Way" to be published in November 2017.

New Book:

Astronomy of the Milky Way: The Northern Sky.

The book is an updated and revised edition of MIke's classic text., and remains the most comprehensive book on the subject.

Plus: Dr Mike Inglis is currently planning a a book for 2019, which will be a companion text to accompany his book on star clusters. The new book will focus on nebulae.
