Dr. Mike Inglis is the author of numerous astronomy books for the amateur astronomer and astronomy student.

Additionally, he has had many articles published in popular astronomy magazines, such as Sky & Telescope (the world’s best selling astronomy magazine), the Journal of the SPA [Society for Popular Astronomy], and Astronomy Now (the UK’s best selling magazine), as well as in research-level journals.

As a professional astronomer, Dr. Mike Inglis is also the Series Editor for several advanced book series;

  • "Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics & Astrophysics" , for degree-level Physics and Astrophysics students.
  • "Springer Briefs in Astronomy", for PhD astrophysics students and research astrophysicists.

Recent News

Dr Mike Inglis has just signed a contract to write a new book, an expanded 3rd edition of his classic book - "Astrophysics is Easy", and will contain new chapters, up-to-date research results, expanded current chapters, along with new problems, and many colour photographs. It will be published in the autumn of 2021.

A new book was published in the summer of 2018 - the 2nd edition, of the second volume in the series - Astronomy of the Milky Way. Volume 2 - The Southern Sky. Volume 1: The Northern sky was published in 2017.

Astronomy of the Milky Way: The Southern Sky.

The book is an updated and revised edition of Mike's classic text, and remains the most comprehensive book on the subject.
