Dr Mike Inglis is a well-known and
respected astronomer on both sides
of the Atlantic and has a life-long passion for the promotion and teaching of astronomy and astrophysics. He completed postdoctoral work at the University of Hertfordshire and Warwick University (both in the UK) and at Princeton University (USA), and has used some of the world’s largest telescopes in Australia, Tenerife and La Palma.

Dr Mike Inglis is Professor of Astronomy & Astrophysics at Suffolk College, part of the State University of New York. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2014.

He is currently working a new project in conjunction with other astronomers around the world, to find and catalogue the faintest objects visible to the naked eye.

As an author, Dr Mike Inglis has written numerous astronomy books both for the amateur astronomer, such as his two volume - Astronomy Of The Milky Way, and for the astrophysics student, such as Astrophysics Is Easy. Additionally, he has had many articles published in popular astronomy magazines, as well as in research-level journals.

He is currently preparing several articles for astronomy pubications.

Dr Mike Inglis has just had a new book published - Astronomy of the Milky Way: Volume 1 - The Northern Sky.

The second volume in the series - Astronomy of the Milky Way: Volume 2 - The Southern Sky, has been sent to the publishers with a view to publication in early Spring 2018.

Dr. Mike Inglis has just had an article published in the journal Popular Astronomy in the UK, entitled "Delights of the Winter Milky Way".

He has also been asked to write another article, to be published in late Spring of 2018, on the Summer Milky Way.

New Book:

Astronomy of the Milky Way: The Northern Sky.

The book is an updated and revised edition of MIke's classic text., and remains the most comprehensive book on the subject.

Plus: Dr Mike Inglis is currently planning a a book for 2019, which will be a companion text to accompany his book on star clusters. The new book will focus on nebulae.

New book: Astronomy Of The Milky Way: Volume 1 - The Northern Sky. This 2nd edition of Mike's classic guide to observing the Milky Way in the Northern Hemisphere updates all of the science with new findings from the astrophysics field, as well as featuring a larger format with entirely re-drawn star charts along with an increased number of images. It updates and improves the 1st edition to remain the most comperhensive book on the subject. Volume 2 - The Southern Sky will be published in 2018.
